YOUR BILLS ARE PRINTING
SLOWLY
Sometimes
we have seen a slowdown in printer response when printing bill batches. For the most part, this has been seen when
printing to a Dot Matrix (or continuous feed) type printer. What you are experiencing is the difference
between files being sent in “graphics” format (as windows based programs do) or
“text” format.
While
we cannot bring the speed up to where it was when printing from your DOS based
program, there is a way to speed up this printing process. You will need to be sure to do the following
steps for each form template that your office uses (i.e. HCFA General Red 1.7,
HCFA Red Med 1.7, Patient Statement – Laser Layout, etc.).
Click
on the [B] to open the Billing Batch.
Click on a patient name to highlight them, now click on the [EDIT] at
the bottom of this screen. You will see
a screen that contains a lot of “boxes”.
At the top of this screen you will see
File Edit View Insert Format Tools Table Window Help

Click
on File. From the menu that opens
up, click on Page Setup. On this screen
you will see a button labeled [Print Setup], click on it. Now find the printer from the pull down menu,
to which you send your bills. When this
printer is on the screen, click on [Properties].

You
will have several tabs on this screen.
Depending on your model of printer, the tab you are looking for will
read something like Graphics – or – Print Quality.

On
this tab, you will have a Resolution setting.
It will likely be set to 600 dpi.
Change this setting to as low as it will go (usually 300 dpi for laser
or desk jet type printers and 180 for dot matrix or continuous feed
printers). OK your way back to the
screen with the “boxes”. From here, hold
down the CTRL key and press “W” to get to the save screen. Save this form.
Repeat for each form template that you will be using in the system.
