EON RECOVER
There
may be several instances in which you will need to run an EON RECOVER
process. A few of the times will be:
·
Power Failure while in the TPS2000 program (no UPC (battery backup) on
the computer giving you no time to exit appropriately).
·
Cannot successfully access an area of the program. You received repeated error messages and/or
it takes you out of the program.
·
You receive an error message about the Indexes not matching the
table.
·
If you have run into a situation where you need to “End Task” on your
software, or if the hardware has locked up and End Task no longer works so you
must actually reboot or shutdown your computer.
Under
any of the above situations you should run a utility to help the software
regain it’s integrity. Your database has
a power save feature. By this I mean
that when affected by power, i.e. loss of power due to lock up or failure, it
will save everything it can in the millisecond available to it. It is NOT neat and clean about where this
data is being saved. It is rather like
the mad dash you do when company is coming in the next 5 minutes (everything
gets thrown in the closet to be properly put away later).
Should
a situation like this occur, you need to run EON RECOVER. If we do not run this utility but go back
into the program and continue to work, it is likely that we will see a
“snowball” effect. The errors will
continue and will get worse.
To
run EON RECOVER, make sure everyone is out of the TPS2000 program and that is
it not open (on the task bar) of ANY computer in your network. (WARNING:
You may have all computers out of TPS2000 and still receive a “File
Access Denied” message. This denotes
that your computer or network still “thinks” someone is in the system. From the main computer, click on START then
on SHUTDOWN and place a check in “Restart” then click OK. When this process is complete, you may
continue with the recover steps).

From
the Server (main computer on which the full TPS2000 program is loaded):
1.
Click on START then on RUN. If
there is anything written on the COMMAND line, delete it.
2.
Type in the COMMAND line:
C:\TPS2000\EON RECOVER
3.
Click OK.
4.
When the process is complete, re-enter TPS2000 and make sure that you
are now capable of completing the action that was producing the error
previously.
NOTE: If you cannot run this process from the main
computer, please be sure that you know which drive represents the main server
or computer. Replace the C: in the
commands above with this drive letter.
If
the problem persists, contact EON’s Technical Support Department, Monday
through Friday from 9:00 AM until 7:00 PM Eastern Time at (727) 298-5501 or fax
at (727) 298-5511.
NOTICE: Whenever you run Eon Recover or Eon Update a
new RECOVR directory will be created.
This directory contains a copy of your data should we need to quickly
have a backup. There is no need to
maintain all RECOVR directories on your hard drive. We do, however, suggest that you keep AT
LEAST the two most recent ones.
