Lists of Paragraphs/items may be edited in a similar
manner. Let’s take “Degree of Pain” as
an example. To find this item, click on
Show List of Records. Click once in the
Description field then type in DEG. This will take you to the entry “Degree of
Pain” or close to it. Highlight this
enter and either double click to select or click on [Select Record].
When this entry has been pulled up on the screen, you
will see the following:

Text/Formula/Items window will display the items you may
choose in < > (i.e. <Active
Pain Bilaterally>) and under the item heading, the paragraph or sentence
that will print when this item is selected.
As you can see, many of these preset sentences and
paragraphs contain other merge fields as well.
To add a new entry to the existing list of a paragraph
selection, such as Degree of Pain, you will go to where you want to see this
item displayed within the list, hit enter and start typing; (i.e. if you wish to insert another selection
between <Mild Pain Bilaterally> and <Mild Pain on the Right> you
would arrow to the first character (<) of the line <Mild Pain on the
Right> and hit enter to start a new line.
Now arrow up to that blank line and you are ready to insert your selection.
Create the Description:
The item description
will need to be typed within the “<” and “>” characters. Anything within these characters is what will
be displayed when you are selecting items in the narrative process. When you have entered this description, hit
enter to go to the next line. You are
now ready to setup the sentence or paragraph you wish to have printed in your
narrative when this description has been selected.

Add the Entry:
Type in the sentence or paragraph that you wish to have
printed in your narrative. You may also
include merge words and other inserts that have already been created.
To add a merge field to the document/letter place your
cursor where you wish to add this field and click on [Insert an Element].

You have four
categories of “insertable elements” available.
You may select either Prompts, Lists of Categories, Random Selections,
or Individual Fields from the system.
When you have made the category selection, the window will fill with all
of the choices necessary.

You may either scroll through the list of items, or click
once in the window then type the first few letters of the item for which you
are searching. When you have found your
selection, either double click on the item, or click once and click on [Insert
the Selected Item] to add this entry to your list or choice item.
