Why digital sign-in?

Digital sign-in is a great way to implement EHR (Electronic Health Records) starting at your front desk, resulting in more efficiency and increased profits.

Here’s how it works. The patient enters their birth date by touching the screen of the pad with a stylus. Their appointment pops up and the patient signs his/her name. If the patient has multiple appointments for the day, one or all of them can be selected. In the rare case where more than one patient has the same birth date and the same appointment day, further criteria are used to determine who is signing in. After the patient signs in, their status is updated in the appointment book of The Practice Solution. That’s it!

The front desk can help those patients less technologically inclined, by “forcing” the appointment information to the pad. This is accomplished through the appointment book in The Practice Solution.  The advantage of digital sign-in is that it eliminates the need for keeping track of a paper sign-in sheet. A report is always available of all of that patient’s sign-ins, including signature, date and time. Plus, Digital Sign-In Solution is a great public relations tool.  When the patients walk in they can see that you are keeping up with technology which gives them a feeling of comfort.

No question about HIPAA as no one can see the other patients who have signed in. If you are ever audited or need proof of patient attendance in your office, The Practice Solution will just print the exact report you need with signatures on it. If you need a sign-in for each visit, it can even do it as a single sheet without other patients on it. Of course, The Practice Solution can also print a standard daily sign-in sheet with all of that day’s patients if you need it.
